Toots

Poor wee bugger - today started out great for my little feline friend, with the sun shining and the birds singing (watch out - he's got his slitty yellow eye on you!), but took a rapidly downward turn around lunchtime when I evily enticed him into the house with the promise of sweety-chewies, bundled him in to his carry-box (after a short wrestling match - two falls, two submissions and a knock-out!) then into the car for an horrendous mile trip along to the vetinarians to get him a jag up the bum and chipped to tell the world he belongs to me! It's his own fault for adopting me: if he didn't like getting petted so much and fed every day and treated to his sweety-chewies every night then he could go somewhere else to live and get none of these expressions of unconditional love. Still, he's a poor wee bugger. He came home and flaked out on the living-room floor for half-an-hour obviously traumatised from his Great Big Adventure! (he mieows in the car all the way there and all the way back again - it would break my heart if I had one, ha!) And there he is - out for the count on the sofa still having nightmares of fighting dogs in the waiting room and pointy needles in the scruff of the neck:

Oils on board, 40x30cm: "Recovery Position"; But he's a survivor. After sleeping the afternoon away he was right as rain and out to the back garden again to take up where he left off: hunting unsuspecting wee birdies. It's a cruel world!

Your post made me smile! Back in my student days I used to help a housemate take his cat to the vet and we'd put her in a pillow case. But she's relax a lot more if she could see, so I'd be sitting in the passenger seat with a pillow case on my lap with a cat's head sticking out the top looking around at the traffic - it drew some strange looks!

Great to have found your very amusing blog - shame about the cat's mistreatment, but it is for his own good. Oh, gawd, that reminds me, it is about time to tort- er, take my friend's MAD cat to the vets for its annual blood-fest (the only people who lose blood are the humans BTW).

Oh, great little sketch!

Wonderful image, Andrea, of a cat's head poking out of a pillow case! Glad you got a smile from my story!

Ach, Marianna, you know me so well!

If you bring some biscuits, Robyn, I'll make you a cuppa tea and we'll have a right good blether! Good to meet you.

And also Kari: You are indeed a true friend if you do the Vet run with a cat that's mad. Extra sweety-chewies for you too!
Nice to meet you :o)

our youngest is currently on 8 weeks cage rest, to be followed by 2 months house arrest, following an argument with a car :>( and multiple fractures to his pelvis

and he's just finished a week on morphine so he's probably a junkie too :>0

lovely painting

We never stop worrying about them, Vivien (as though they were our offspring!).
I remember when I was hospitalised for an operation (nothing too serious - just the whole insides of my colonic system {far toooo much information, ha!.) I was a dab hand at self-administering the dia-morphine but after a while realised I couldn't feel anything when I should have!
No wonder I'm the way I am! :o)

Pleased you like my painting of Leo, aka Toots! (which is a whole other story for another time perhaps?)

Wonderful painting of Leo, David! You'd never know from his peaceful appearance the trauma he's just endured (and he likely forgot about it to by the next day, too, which is good). Kyoko likes this very much as well and is now prodding me to draw our two cats. Great work!

Two cats, Brian? The Gods of Pointy Ears and Long Whiskers have been very kind to you!

Leo's just a wee soul, but my bestest pal, especially when I'm feeding him chewies :o)

Kyoko is right - why have two cats if you aren't going to draw them?
Let's see what you can do.

Please?
