Young Woman Sitting

Pencil and acrylics on paper, 30x43cm: What a technological whiz-kid I am! I don't think I have posted this before (I sometimes lose the place you know!) so I'm using this image to introduce my new link to my new gallery shop on Etsy.com which you will see on the right-hand column. It may be a "virtual" gallery but the link is definitely there. I can see it, and it works too! Give it a try and let me know what you think?

Jim

pastel on paper, 43x59cm.
Friday night's model was Jim, again. A short guy just about my own age and build, it's a bit disconcerting drawing practically yourself in the noddy! As you see, I focussed on his head and didn't leave enough time to do anything with his body. No matter, I liked what I achieved, and enjoyed the drawing of him.

Bickus

charcoal pencil on paper, 43x59cm.
This is one of my most favourite images drawn from the model James. I can remember the first time I met and drew him. He is about the same height as me, although a bit slimmer, and when he took his clothes off and turned into this pose I gasped at the size of his penis. "Lucky Bastard" I thought! I looked up at the other artists in the room but no-one else made any comment. What can you do? You just have to admire, and get on with the drawing.
The title comes from the film "Life of Brian" when Pontius Pilate, played by Michael Palin, is talking about some of his friends in Rome such as Incontinetia Buckets, and Bickus Dickus!!!!

Lisa 05

charcoal on paper, 43x59cm.
Another terrific pose by Lisa. After a short discussion she understood exactly what I was looking for and took up a whole series of more dynamic poses like this one, each for only two minutes. Of course, by the time I had changed to a fresh sheet, and turned my drawing board around to suit the orientation, I only had about one-and-a-half minutes! No time to think, just do!

Turkey

charcoal pencil and pastels on paper, 59x43cm.
Well this caused a stushie when I posted it under the title 'Guantanamo'. Some guy wanted me to add it to one of his groups called: Art, philosophy and Visual Perception, because it demonstrated in his mind the link between faith and being a prisoner. I took the hump, of course, when I clicked on the group page it denied me access. I'm afraid that was like a red rag to a bull! It convinced me that his group was secretive, and I was to just add it without knowing what it really was about. The long and the short of it was that I refused; he was annoyed by my forthrightness and responded tetchily. After thinking on it for a couple of days I decided to try to draw a line under the episode and apologised for my vehemence, but I was only protecting my drawing from being hi-jacked by a religious group that I knew nothing of.
