My Shining Star

I've waited a long time to meet this little boy, and this morning, at twenty-past ten, he arrived:

Harrison "Harry" Derek Cornelius - my shining star:

And here is the first of hopefully many drawings to be made, only one hour into his wee life:

Dark damp hair and wee petted lip - just like his Pappa!

And here is a drawing of "Nanna Jacqui", nervously waiting for her first grand-child to arrive:

Her beauty continues to astound me.

And tonight, for the first time in eight months, I raise my glass of champaigne to my lovely daughter, Sharon, my own proud son, Gavin, and of course, to my Shining Star, Harry.

Cheers!

sorry to hear about the bad times - I can relate to them, having had similar occurrences :>(

Harry looks delightful - and welcome back to drawing/painting

Thanks, Vivien, there are times when you can only endure knowing that it will surely pass - and it usually does.

Having a child come into the family, in early Spring, is such a positive force I am a very happy man.

Glad to be back.

Congratulations!!! I am so very happy for you, David. This is splendid news and I wish you and your dear family every good thing--and a fantastic year.

Yes, just surviving is sometimes the bravest thing we can do.

Your ability to draw has not been impeded in the least. Beautiful work!

Edgar: Yes, he's so small, but holds our whole world in his tiny hand! Good to get your visit. Feeling more up-beat than I have in a long time and, as you recognise, inspiration comes with the Spring and a new baby!

And Dario: Many congratulations to you too - a wee boy as well! Valentin is such a good name :o)
Saludos!

And Melanie too: very good to hear from you! Thanks for your welcomes.

Thank you all for your good wishes, I'll pass them on to the parents, and of course Wee Harry:o)

(ps: You may just be able to discern in these responses that the celebrating excesses are over for the time being, but likely to resume again next week-end)[and the next].

Wonderful news, David! A very big round of congratulations to everyone there. So nice to see Harry and what a great thing that you were ready to sketch on the spot - lovely drawings!

Thanks Brian!
I was as nervous as hell making this drawing of wee Harry and it wasn't just having an audience - there were a few nurses and a midwife in the room commenting on how wonderful to be able to do this sort of thing - it was more the sheer exhiliration of seeing him for the very first time and scared I would make a cod of it!
